Quick Tip: Easy-to-Peel Hard-Boiled Eggs

Quick Tip: Easy-to-Peel Hard-Boiled Eggs

Hard-cooked eggs are nutritious and delicious. The problem? Peeling them can be a real chore. Here’s how to make the job easier:

(1) Use Older Eggs.  Buy eggs at least 7 to 10 days before cooking and peeling them. As the American Egg Board points out, the fresher the egg, the harder it is to peel. (Stored in the fridge in their original carton, eggs will maintain best quality for about 3 to 5 weeks.)

(2) Peel quickly. Peel eggs right after they've been cooked and cooled. Gently roll the eggs on your countertop to crack the shells all over.

(3) Store properly. If you’re not planning to use the eggs right away, refrigerate within two hours of cooking and use within one week.
